Special Foundation Announcement from Jason Menzo

Dear Foundation Community,

I hope you are having a nice summer and staying cool! I have an important announcement to share.

David Brint, who has served as board chair since 2016, has decided to retire from the chair position on June 30, 2024. David has had significant positive impact on the organization the past seven years, and his contributions to our mission are many!

To facilitate a smooth transition, a special committee was formed to identify a successor, and we are happy to announce that Karen Petrou has been elected as new board chair, effective July 1, 2024. Additionally, Karen has been elevated to a newly formed position within the board titled executive vice chair effective immediately. In this new role, she will work closely with David and the full board in preparation to assume the chair role next year.

Karen, who was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa at the age of 18, has served on the Foundation’s board since 2006, will become the third chair, and the first female chair in the Foundation’s 52-year history. She is the co-founder and managing partner of Federal Financial Analytics, Inc., a company that has provided analytical and advisory services on legislative, regulatory, and public-policy issues affecting financial services companies doing business in the U.S. and abroad. Karen is routinely featured in the Financial Times, American Banker, Wall Street Journal, NPR, CNBC, and many other media outlets.

She is a strong and vocal advocate for the Foundation’s mission, a strategic leader, and the perfect successor to David’s many years of service.

As part of the upcoming VISIONS 2024 conference, we will celebrate David’s impact on the organization as chair and officially welcome Karen into her new role as Foundation board chair.

Please join me in congratulating both David and Karen.

Sincerely,
