Over ten million Americans are affected by blinding retinal diseases such as macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and Usher syndrome. Foundation Fighting Blindness is working to find treatments and cures for these devastating diseases. Foundation Fighting Blindness funds leading-edge research in areas such as genetics, gene therapy, transplantation, artificial retinal implants, and pharmaceutical and nutritional therapies.

Since 2006, VisionWalk has raised over $21 million to support the mission of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Over 51 walks are planned for 2012, including the 3rd Annual Montgomery County VisionWalk on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Rockville Town Square.
