Presenter Biography

David Gamm, M.D., Ph.D.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Dr. Gamm is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and the Emmett A. Humble Distinguished Director of the McPherson Eye Research Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He also holds the Sandra Lemke Trout Chair in Eye Research, and is a member of the Waisman Center Stem Cell Research Program and the University of Wisconsin Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center. Dr. Gamm earned his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, completed his residency and pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, and was recently elected into the American Society for Clinical Investigation. He diagnoses and manages a wide range of pediatric eye and vision disorders, including inherited retinal degenerations however, most of his effort is directed toward stem cell research. Through collaborations with other FFB researchers, he is testing the ability of human pluripotent stem cells to rescue and replace retinal cells.
