Retinal Physicians

Below is a list of retinal specialists in your state. This list was developed to help patients who are outside of the range of The Foundation’s Research Centers find local specialists. To compile this list, The Foundation requested names of all vitreo-retinal specialists from the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s membership. We then wrote to each listed member, asking if they wished to be included on our referral list.

All of the specialists, on the attached referral list, have indicated their interest in seeing patients with inherited retinal degenerative diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa, Macular Degeneration, and Usher Syndrome. However, please be aware that The Foundation has not screened those listed to judge their training, experience, and/or standing in the medical community. The Foundation cannot recommend one specialist in preference to another. Also, The Foundation cannot be held responsible for any services given by referral specialists or for the fees, which they may charge.

This referral list should help you identify specialists at locations convenient to you. In conjunction with this list, you should consult with your Primary Care Physician for their recommendation to a retinal and/or low vision specialist. If convenient, you may want to visit one of The Foundation’s Research Centers for a diagnostic evaluation, or consult with your State Department of Rehabilitation, county medical society, large hospital ophthalmology clinic, or university medical school in your area.
