New York City Chapter Welcome Letter

Welcome to the New York City Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness (NYC FFB).   We are dedicated to providing support for the blind and low vision community, increasing public awareness and raising funds for a cure.
Our chapter includes volunteer support communities for those with retinal degenerative diseases and for their family and friends.  One support group meets in Manhattan usually on the fourth Saturday of the month and another group meets in Queens on the third Saturday of the month.   Each support group provides comradery and sharing of experiences. They also discuss what’s new and what’s happening in the world of vision loss.  For information about the Manhattan meetings please contact Sandy Padernacht: and for information about the Queens meetings contact Sherry Rogers: There is also a Young Professionals' group that meets every few months at the Muhlenberg Library on 23rd Street in Manhattan.  For further information about this group, please contact Josh Steinberg at
NYC FFB provides informational events on technology, services available to the blind and low vision community including dealing with daily routines, and the latest advances from the medical field.  We also raise funds for research for a cure with activities ranging from brunches, musical outings and the Vision Walk which this year will take place in Central Park on April16, 2016.  We invite all those who have vision problems and all those who are interested in the vision of their children, parents, family, friends and their community to participate.  For more information about the VisionWalk visit:
