Presenter Biography

Paul Yang, M.D., Ph.D.

Clinical Research Fellow, University of Utah

Paul Yang, M.D., Ph.D., is a clinical research fellow funded by the Foundation Fighting Blindness's Alan Laties Career Development Program. He earned his undergraduate degrees in bioengineering and biochemistry at the University of Washington and his doctorates in medicine and neurophysiology at Dartmouth Medical School. The latter were funded by an Individual M.D. and Ph.D. Pre-Doctoral National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Yang completed an internship and residency in ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah and a fellowship in ocular immunology and uveitis at the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is currently conducting laboratory studies to evaluate the effectiveness of immunomodulatory therapy in reducing secondary collateral damage in retinitis pigmentosa.
