Presenter Biography
Christine Kay, M.D.
University of Florida
Dr. Kay is an assistant professor at the University of Florida and a vitreoretinal specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology. She completed her medical degree at the University of Florida, College of Medicine in 2005. After completing a transitional internship at the Roanoke Carilion Memorial Hospital, she completed her ophthalmology residency training at the University of South Florida, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Iowa. Her research currently focuses on the development and optimization of a viral vector delivery system for the genetic treatment of Achromotopsia. Specifically, her academic focus involves gene therapy research, evaluation of efficacy of vector therapy with electrophysiology, fundus imaging, optical coherence tomography, and immunohistochemistry. She is also interested in clinical studies regarding natural course of disease and electrophysiologic findings in patients with various inherited retinal diseases.
