Jacque L. Duncan, M.D.

Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology
Director, Retinal Degenerations Clinic
University of California, San Francisco


Jacque L. Duncan, M.D., a professor of clinical ophthalmology, is director of the Retinal Degenerations Clinic at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She graduated with distinction and honors from Stanford University in 1990, then followed up with medical school, an internship and an ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Duncan completed a medical retina fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, working with Drs. Stuart Fine and Samuel G. Jacobson. Her fellowship training focused on patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and inherited retinal degenerations. In 2000, she joined the ophthalmology faculty at UCSF, where her expertise is in the diagnosis and management of patients with retinal degenerations, including AMD, retinitis pigmentosa, cone-rod dystrophy and Stargardt disease. She has a strong interest in developing imaging and monitoring technologies to better evaluate the progress of disease and the efficacy of emerging therapies. Dr. Duncan was recently appointed to the FFB Scientific Advisory Board as an executive member.
