Angela Diuble - Volunteer of the Year 2014 - Midwest Region

Angela Diuble is a fundraising phenomenon. She has been involved with the Michigan VisionWalk since 2010, and its chair since 2011. In that time, she has raised $146,315.95  for VisionWalk.  In October 2014, the inaugural “Lilly’s Oktoberfest” netted over $20,000 alone for VisionWalk.  Over 350 people attended this event.  She contacted the ABC local television affiliate, WXYZ, who ran a story about the event, and print media, via the Manchester Enterprise, was also secured to promote the event. She has already secured air time on W4 Country station for the spring walk. At the present time, Diuble’s fundraising efforts have brought in more than $29,000 for the 2015 Michigan VisionWalk.

While her daughter Lilly is affected with Usher syndrome and has her own team, Lilly’s Friends, Angie has made VisionWalk a family effort, involving her younger daughter, Abby, as well.  Abby’s team, Abby’s Friends – Lilly’s Friends Too, gives Lilly’s team some family-friendly competition in fundraising and getting friends to participate in the walk.

Dedicated to giving her time to promote the walk and FFB, in January 2015, Angie spoke before 100 people at a local fundraiser. In September 2014, she also spoke at a chapter meeting to tell her story. She takes each and every opportunity offered to tell about the important research FFB is doing, promoting awareness of the Foundation. This approach was also evident in the news pieces presented on Lilly by NBC’s Peter Alexander as part of the NBC Nightly News.
