Utah Chapter Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Utah Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
We are a volunteer-led group that for the last 15 years has been providing information, education and support to individuals and families living with retinal degenerative diseases. Our Chapter goals are threefold: To raise public awareness of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and its mission; to provide support and information to individuals and their families living with a retinal degenerative disease; and to support the mission of FFB by raising funds for research, preventions, treatments, and cures for all retinal diseases.
With support from the Foundation Fighting Blindness, we host regularly scheduled chapter meetings, support groups, and social events throughout Utah, connecting our community with guidance and support, educating our community about the various forms of retinal degenerative disease, and keeping our community current on the latest research and developments concerning retinal diseases. FFB has funded thousands of studies at hundreds of prominent institutions around the world, including Salt Lake City's Moran Eye Center.
Our chapter connects local low vision support services within the community to those who are seeking help and guidance. Over the years, chapter members have connected with local retinal specialists, low vision specialists, mobility instructors, and social service providers. We connect people with resources to help simplify their daily living, such as: transportation options for people that can no longer drive, helpful information to aid with cooking, communication, mobile adaptive technology, and safe travel techniques using a cane, guide dogs and sighted guides. Our chapter connects people with people who can help.
Chapter meetings are free and open to everyone. The information provided at each meeting is invaluable, but more important are the friendships and community support that develop.
We are fortunate to have an active and engaged chapter board that carries the spirit of FFB’s Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, Gordon Gund. His vision is our vision: We will, through helping to fund vital research, save and restore sight.
We’d love to hear from you and we welcome your participation in the FFB Utah Chapter. Sign-up today and start receiving cChapter mMeeting announcements and updates. We are here to help.
