Message from the Chapter President
Hello friends and community members, I am honored to serve as President of the FFB Washington Chapter. I live in Federal Way, Washington with my wife Mary and am retired after 40 years in the forest products industry. I like biking, swimming, walking, wine tasting, spending time with my grandsons and traveling; my favorite place to travel is the Oregon Coast. I first heard about the Foundation in 2005, shortly after my two sons were diagnosed with RP; they were in their early 20’s at the time. Given the diagnosis, we all wanted to learn everything we could about RP, what to expect and what could be done to treat it. It wasn’t long before we heard about the FFB and their work to find treatments and cures for RP and other retinal diseases. Early on, Mary and I started including the FFB in our annual charitable giving, but I wanted to do more. In 2010 I learned about VisionWalk and the whole family got involved, including our extended families as both my sons are now married. I have been active with the FFB Washington Chapter since 2010. We held our first VisionWalk in 2011 and over the past 6 years we have raised over $400,000 to support the FFB mission. So far all of our chapter activities have taken place in the greater Seattle area, but people are involved from all over Washington. Together we are helping to cure blindness and learning from each other how to live life to its fullest. If you have questions or ideas to share, you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 206-295-4651.
