Northern Virginia Chapter Highlights

The Northern Virginia Chapter presented its annual Visionary Award to William L. Ballhaus, President and CEO of SRA International on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the 5th Annual Northern Virginia Dining in the Dark. Business and community leaders gathered to celebrate Mr. Ballhaus and learn more about the strides made in retinal disease research.

The evening included a lively auction, a key note speech from Foundation Chief Research Officer, Dr. Stephen Rose and a testimonial from Paul D’addario on his experience in the clinical trial that led to FDA approval of the Argus II retinal prosthesis.
The Foundation greatly appreciates the continuous hard work of Dinner Chairs Davida and Jim Luehrs and the entire dinner committee for their leadership and commitment to the event’s succuess.

And a sincere thank you to our dinner sponsors:

Donna Burke Tehaan and Jody Kelly were presented with the Foundation’s Member Excellence Outstanding New Trustee Award at the VISIONS 2012 national conference in Minneapolis in June. The honor recognizes their notable contributions and sustained commitment to the Foundation’s mission during the early years of trusteeship. Trustees since the spring of 2011, Donna and Jody have worked hand in hand to generate nearly $1 million for sight-saving research. They’ve chaired several successful fundraising events, including the Northern Virginia Dining in the Dark twice and VisionWalks in both Northern Virginia/DC and Montgomery County. They also travel to Dining in the Dark events around the country to support the Foundation’s mission.
