Miranda BakerFort Worth, TX
For the past few years, Miranda has been the driving force behind the participation of the Alcon Labs and Foundation employees with FFB. In 2014, she helped make the Ft. Worth VisionWalk a smashing success. In 2014, Alcon raised $18,641. They also formed 6 teams for the 2014 walk and have had team participation since 2011.
Miranda has AMD in her family and has been a vocal leader for all Ft. Worth events for the DFW chapter.
Miranda has helped set up and organize VisionWalk kick-off meetings not only in the Ft. Worth area for all chapter members, but also has arranged meetings at the main campus for Alcon Labs and the Alcon Foundation and at a satellite Alcon Labs location in suburban Ft. Worth. These meetings were instrumental in getting the Alcon employees fired up to participate in the VisionWalk and compete for the annual Flying Pig awards for the Alcon team that brought the most employees and family memb ers to the event and another Flying Pig award for the team that raises the most money.
Miranda was part of the original employee team that named the Flying Pig awards, one being called Florence Sightingale and the other, I C Clearly. Miranda has won the top team raising the most money for the past two years and really covets her pig! In fact, last year, Miranda engineered a publicity stunt by having someone take pictures of the Flying Pig in different locations around the campus and asking the employees to guess where she was. This added excitement and fund for the employees to get involved in a bigger way. With Miranda at the helm of Alcon's participation, since 2011 they have had over 26 teams participate, raising over $42,660.
Miranda has also been a vocal leader with Alcon WIN program which is a program where Women Innovating Now is a program that Alcon supports and in fact, matched the over $10,000 raised in 2014 giving FFB more than $20,000 in more than 10 VisionWalks around the country.
