Message from the Foundation Fighting Blindness:
The Foundation’s goal for the South Florida Chapter is to develop volunteer leadership to help create a supportive community for those with a retinal degenerative disease and for their family and friends. A chapter brings people together to:
- help educate about retinal degenerative diseases and the research,
- provide a supportive environment where people can learn about resources available to the visually impaired and
- fundraise to further the research
The Foundation has a nationwide network of chapters and many resources including a staff member to help guide and build a chapter. A South Florida Chapter can help bring educational speaker series meetings with from retinal specialists, researchers, low vision specialists, mobility instructors, adaptive technology experts and many others who can bring valuable information to the community.
We’d love to hear from you and we welcome your participation in the South Florida Chapter! Volunteers are needed to help with the planning of educational meetings, networking socials and fundraise so we can find the much needed preventions, treatments and cures for those with a retinal disease.
Please do not hesitate to contact Kimberly Marlow if you have an interest in becoming involved with the South Florida Chapter.
