Message from the President:
Hello Jacksonville Area Chapter members! After some serious thought and conversations with my family, I have decided to step down as President of our local chapter. For those of you that know me, you know that I have dedicated a huge part of my life to helping find cures for retinal degenerative diseases and I will continue to support this cause until these diseases are no longer affecting anyone. It has been my honor to represent the Jacksonville Chapter of Foundation Fighting Blindness. I turn the reigns over to our very capable Vice President, Adriann Keve. She has been a chapter leader for years and has the same passion to find cures. So, I know she will do an awesome job.
The Foundation Fighting Blindness and 2014 Jacksonville VisionWalk Chair Megan Mauney go way back. Megan, who has retinitis pigmentosa, first became involved with FFB when she was about six years old. Her mother began taking her to FFB support group meetings over 20 years ago, and Megan felt out of place because everyone else was so much older than her. Subsequently, Megan lost touch with FFB for a while.
However, about five years ago, Megan felt a little down about having RP and wanted to find some support, so she reached out to the Jacksonville FFB Chapter and immediately became involved with Jacksonville’s first annual VisionWalk in 2009. Since then, Megan has been an active member of the Chapter’s leadership committee and an active participant in every Jacksonville VisionWalk.
