Greater Kansas City Chapter Welcome Letter

Terry Super, Chapter President
Terry Super,
Chapter President

Welcome to the Kansas City Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. I am honored to serve as Chapter President over these many years. Each person in the Chapter has their own story as to why finding a cure is important to them. What’s yours?

The Kansas City Chapter is proud to represent the FFB in their fight to find preventions, treatments and cures for people suffering from retinal diseases. And it’s working.

As a chapter we raise money to further FFB’s efforts through the VisionWalk, offer education through our various chapter events, provide information to our members about the important research that is being done by FFB and others and letting them know about the resources available in our community. Not too long ago, we partnered with nearly 15 vision-related service agencies in the Greater Kansas City area to bring information to our members.

The vision of the Kansas City Chapter is to partner with each of these organizations and others to promote awareness of the services available for the visually impaired in Kansas City. We envision that our website will become the go-to resource for information on research, education, services, equipment and specialists. We will continue to promote events and post technical and social support available from each.

We would love for you to join us in the fight by becoming involved in the Chapter. Feel free to contact me if you would like to get involved for the first time or would like to take a leadership role in the Chapter. How to get involved? Consider starting a team for our upcoming VisionWalk in June, attend  one of our Chapter events to learn more about current research and vision health-related issues or attend one of our other periodic events.

Volunteers are the core of any non-profit organization and the Kansas City Chapter has been very lucky to have such a great group of volunteers. The energy created by these events is infectious and helps foster the Chapter community. We can always use more input, insight and help so please consider getting involved today! I welcome your suggestions about the Chapter, upcoming topics for our educational Chapter Speakers series, ways to reach out to potential new members and potential fundraising activities.

Together we are making a difference both in raising important funds for research and in the everyday lives of those suffering from a retinal disease. With your help, A Cure is in Sight!
