Message from the Presidents:
Dear friends of the Bay Area chapter. We are Sandra and and Henry Wong, co-presidents of the Bay Area chapter. In December of 2004, after going through a series of tests and eye examinations, we learned that our son, Connor, had Stargardt disease. As Connor’s parents, we were stunned. He is the eldest of our two sons.

Attorney, Member of the National Board of Directors, Foundation Fighting Blindness
Janni was appointed by President Obama, confirmed by the United States Senate, and served two terms (2011-2016) on the National Council on Disability, the federal agency dedicated to advocating and supporting disability policy. She served as senior disability policy advisor to the Clinton Presidential campaign. Janni was appointed to the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine Forum on aging and disability in 2017, and currently also serves on the Board of Directors for Disability Rights Advocates, a non-profit law firm that conducts cutting edge access litigation. Legally blind for almost 40 years, her engagement with the disability community has fueled her commitment to advocacy. "We all grow up with a basic understanding that we cannot take our lives for granted, that life may send us in unexpected directions. But, what happens if that person is you?"
In most respects, Elan Zankman is a typical nine-year-old kid. He’s a fierce competitor in soccer and basketball, and enjoys a long volley on the tennis court with his father, Eric. He is also a math whiz and a fan of board games. “He’s been practicing basketball very doggedly lately,” says his mother, Pam. “Elan is an intense kid. He likes to win.”
