Message from the President:

Hello! My name is Heather Napolitano.  When I began losing my vision, my husband and I were scared and searching everywhere for answers.  The sense of community and support we felt upon finding the FFB was indescribable.  They lifted our hopes and instilled a fight within us to find a cure.

The urgent mission of the Foundation Fighting Blindness is to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinal degenerative diseases.  My goal, as the Philadelphia Chapter president, is to help you stay current on these latest research and developments.  I also want to open communication between our members to share their stories, knowledge of local support services, and any other opportunities they feel would help.  Our chapter presentations have hosted top retinal doctors, specialists, and researchers.  Meeting topics are varied, catering to the needs and interests of our members.

Our chapter helps support FFB’s research through amazing events.  Every fall is FFB’s signature event, VisionWalk.  It is not only a 5K walk, where you are able to walk beside people fighting for the same thing you are, but an incredible family day with fun for the kids, too!  We also have other events, including a Dining in the Dark Dinner and Sip For Sight.

The Philadelphia Chapter is always looking for engaged and active members.  The definition of community is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. Our community is a group of fighters, raising awareness and funds with the goal of a cure for the blinding eye diseases that affect us and many, many others.   Be inspired by all of the sight-saving advancements the Foundation Fighting Blindness has already achieved – and become a part of the ones ahead because: a cure is in sight!

Cheers,

Heather Napolitano
