Just Because
Just Because is unique program created by Foundation Fighting Blindness Trustee Judy Kahl to raise funds and awareness for the Foundation. Judy, who has Usher syndrome (combined hearing and vision loss), came up with an eye-catching bee pin to raise money in support of the Foundation's urgent mission to end blinding retinal degenerative diseases. Judy’s mission was to create this program as a fun, creative way to spread the buzz and get others involved and showing their support of the foundation. Most notably, Judy has since hosted two very successful “Just Bee-cause” Luncheon and Fashion Shows raising over $73,000 collectively for the Foundation. Her luncheons have become the talk of the town, generating much media coverage and allowing Judy to tell her story to the sold out events.  With the growth of these events, we have now seen attendees beginning to host their own luncheons and help keep the buzz going. Judy’s dream is to have Just Because Luncheons held in cities across the country, and see others wearing her bee pin and raising awareness in their own communities.
