Jennifer Rothschild, an acclaimed speaker, publisher, and author, received the Foundation’s Hope & Spirit Award for her triumphs over blindness from retinitis pigmentosa.
She inspired guests with her stories of hope and optimism, including an entertaining account of her guide dog that had an unabashed affinity for the meals of unsuspecting diners at a popular fast food restaurant.
On a more reflective note, Rothschild said that those with vision loss have to find ways to make the best of their limitations. “We have to become friends with our blindness until a cure comes along,” she remarked. |
