Congressman Jerry Lewis and Author Tom Clancy To Be Honored At Foundation Fighting Blindness D.C. For the Love of Sight Visionary Awards Dinner

Washington, D.C. (January 17, 2012) — The Foundation Fighting Blindness, a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing sight-saving research, will honor California Congressman Jerry Lewis and best-selling author Tom Clancy at the D.C. For the Love of Sight Visionary Awards Dinner. The 10th annual event will take place on Wednesday, March 28, at 6 p.m., at the Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C., to benefit research toward preventions, treatments and cures for vision-robbing retinal degenerative diseases including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinitis pigmentosa (RP), Usher syndrome, and related conditions.

For the Love of Sight was created in 2003 by former Burson-Marsteller COO Worldwide Ken Rietz, who is affected with retinitis pigmentosa, and former U.S. Secretary of Labor Ann McLaughlin Korologos. Hundreds of Washingtonians will be on hand to celebrate the visionaries’ accomplishments and fight blinding diseases that affect more than 10 million Americans. Event co-chairs include Ken Rietz and Ursula Landsrath; Ann McLaughlin Korologos and Tom Korologos; Northrop Grumman Technical Services Vice President and General Manager Bill Carty and Colleen Carty; Foundation Fighting Blindness Chairman Gordon Gund and fellow Foundation Co-Founder Llura Gund; former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez and Edilia Gutierrez. Since its inception, the event has raised close to $4 million for sight-saving research. Past honorees include Senator Tom Harkin, Senator John Boozman, and J. Willard Marriott, Jr.
