When Arlington resident Martha Steele was just 4 or 5 years old, she began wearing hearing aids. Later, in her mid-20s, Steele learned her hearing loss was connected to something else – to Usher Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by hearing impairment and progressive vision loss.
