The Foundation’s Dec. 16 Northern Virginia Dining in the Dark honored Northrop Grumman CEO and President Wes Bush and the National Eye Institute’s Dr. Ignacio R. Rodriguez with Visionary Awards. Not only did the event attract around 200 attendees and raise nearly $300K for sight-saving research, it was also featured by several media outlets including WTTG Fox 5, Comcast Newsmakers, the Washington Post’s Style section and Capital Business, the Connection Newspapers, and the Scene Bisnow.
More recently, the first-ever Banking on a Cure New York Visionary Awards Dinner appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and Haute Living, among other media outlets. Recognizing the achievements of UBS Investment Bank Vice Chairman Aryeh B. Bourkoff and Columbia University Medical Center Department of Ophthalmology Chairman Stanley Chang, M.D., the dinner raised nearly $1 million for the Foundation.
On the research front, the Foundation’s Chief Research Officer Dr. Stephen Rose offers his expertise for two recent retinal disease articles: a Los Angeles Times piece on stem cell therapy for macular degeneration and a Fort Worth Star-Telegram story on a controversial treatment in China.
