More than 550 men, women and children (and a few dogs!) attended the 3rd annual Memphis VisionWalk held at Overton Park on Saturday, October 23rd. The family-friendly walk is a national event created to raise awareness and to fundraise for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. The foundation is a non-profit organization which drives research to prevent blindness, and provides treatments for people affected by Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Macular Degeneration, Usher syndrome, and to find cures for the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases. Since its inception in 2006, the walk has raised more than $23 million dollars to fund sight-saving research.
