The Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) was established in 1971 with the mission to drive research in preventions, treatments and cures for blinding retinal diseases including macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and Usher syndrome. There are more than 10 million Americans of every age and race who are losing their vision to these devastating diseases. Today, the Maryland based organization has 50 chapters around the nation and is the largest source of non-governmental funding for retinal degenerative disease research in the world, raising more than $370 million over the past 38 years.
