Foundation Seeks Commercial Partnerships at FasterCures Meeting
|
The Foundation recently participated in Partnering for Cures, a first-of-its-kind meeting that brought together nonprofits, medical research foundations, and the biopharmaceutical industry to forge strategic collaborations for the timely development of new medical treatments. The Foundation’s Dr. Steve Rose, chief research officer, and Dr. Steve Bramer, chief drug development officer, presented the Foundation’s mission and research goals to representatives from a broad range of biopharmaceutical companies which are developing treatments such as gene therapies, stem cell therapies, and pharmaceutical agents. Many of these emerging treatments have potential for saving and restoring vision. “Drugs and biological therapies targeted for neurological diseases often have potential for treating the retina,” says Dr. Bramer. “As a result of our presentation, we generated substantial interest in commercial collaborations to develop treatments for retinal degenerative diseases.” Partnering for Cures was convened by FasterCures/The Center for Accelerating Medical Solutions, a nonprofit organization committed to saving lives by saving time in the research and development of new medical solutions. |
