2012 Tampa Bay VisionWalk
|
Congratulations on your success, Tampa Bay! The 5th Annual Tampa VisionWalk was held on October 27, 2012, at Al Lopez Park in Tampa. Over 350 people came out on a cool breezy day to walk in support of the work of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the over 10 million people affected by blinding retinal diseases. With April Lufriu once again at the helm, the VisionWalk reached its $50,000 goal two days before the walk was held. On Walk day 31 teams, countless volunteers, Forbes Riley of the Home Shopping Network, several City of Tampa Firemen, Lisa Gallipoli – Events Director with the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Paul Iozzio of the City of Tampa, and Thunderbug from the Tampa Bay Lightning joined us for one of the most successful Walks ever held in Tampa. The energy and enthusiasm was contagious as the walkers moved through the familiar blue and yellow balloon arch on a day that Mayor Buckhorn declared “Tampa VisionWalk Day.” Our top five fundraising teams are:
Seven amazing ladies single-handedly raised $1,000 or more to become our Walk All Stars. Thank you to:
We had some amazing sponsors as well. Thank you to:
Thanks to generous donations by Transitions, the St. Petersburg Lion’s Club, and two local McDonald’s walkers enjoyed reusable water bottles and tasty treats. VisionWalk would not be what it is without an amazing group of people supporting it as fundraisers, walkers, volunteers, and donors. |
