Our June 23 VisionWalk was FINALLY under 90 degrees, but that didn't cool anyone's enthusiasm for one of the best VisionWalks we have had, with more than 360 participants. We hope you all enjoyed beautiful Kaufmann Gardens and Theis Park to celebrate our fundraising efforts in support of the Foundation and the critical research it funds. Our teams and families did another amazing job of fundraising, crossing the $45,000 mark with the help of Walmart Vision Centers.
Check out our first set of VisionWalk photos from Saturday! If you have any photos, please e-mail them to me so I can post them on the website). Again, thank you so much! THANKS TO OUR WALK COMMITTEE! We want to give special thanks to our Walk Chair, Lindsey Smith; guest speaker, Dr. Kevin Skelsey from Silverstein Eye Centers, Youth Chairs, Hunter Hall and Luke Poage, KC Chapter President Terry Super, and a strong Walk Committee ... Lisa Rickards, Angee Donelan, Alcy Malkmus, Sharon Soltz, Brent Donelan, and the Smith Family. Your leadership and dedication to the VisionWalk was the driving force behind our success. THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS! We would also like to thank our sponsors: Our Community Captain, Walmart Vision Centers (which has raised over $10,000 and counting!), GlynnDevins Advertising & Marketing, Terry Super - Greater KC Community Foundation, and Selective Site Consultants, Inc. A special thank you to the many community sponsors and in-kind donors who made Saturday such a great day for so many.
We would like to give special recognition to Kohl's for bringing top-notch volunteers. Thank you as well to Kevo the Klown for volunteering his time to entertain everyone; and Kasey Kangaroo from UMKC and Red from Red Robin for goofing around with the walkers.
