2011 Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky VisionWalk
|
Other than a little chill, we enjoyed an absolutely perfect day on Saturday, welcoming 565 walkers to beautiful Theodore Berry Friendship Park for our 6th Annual VisionWalk. The Walk has surpassed its $85,000 goal, and piled on a whole lot more to cross the magical $100,000 mark ... a HUGE number for Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky! Thank you to the entire community for making this such a great success. I will be posting a link to photos from the Walk so you can see for yourself. If you took any pics from Saturday, please send them to me and I will share with everyone.THANKS TO OUR WALK COMMITTEE! Special thanks to our Walk Chairs, Pat and Karen O'Callaghan; Family Chairs, Sandy, Angela and Barry Feist; Business Chair, Jim Momper; Medical Chair, Dr. Michael Petersen from the Cincinnati Eye Institute, Media Chair and Emcee, Paula Toti; Youth Chairs, Drew Plumlee and Tyler Rose Achenbach; Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chapter President Tim Smith, and the rest of our Walk Committee (Diane Donley, Robin Chadwick, Jennifer Cupp, Wendy Achenbach, Cassie Blankenship, Angela Plumlee). Your leadership and dedication to the VisionWalk was the driving force behind our success. THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS! Community Champion, Haile Foundation/US Bank; Community Captains, AAA; Gorilla Glue Company, Lexington Charitable Golf Foundation - Rick Sawyer; Crescent Springs Tobacco, Fifth Third Bank, SC Ministry Foundation, Mellott & Mellott, Engineering Excellence, Western and Southern Insurance, Ohio Casualty Insurance Co., Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, Cincinnati Eye Institute, Independent Sheet Metal, Hunt Club Clothiers, Pension Corporation of America, Berry Insurance Group, CLH Foundation, Hilltop Companies, Wing Eye Care, Tim Smith Design, Heritage Hall Catering and our sponsors from the represented families; The O'Callaghans, The Chadwicks, The Donleys, The Feists and The Plumlees. Also, a special thank you to the many community sponsors and in-kind donors who made Saturday such a great day for so many. LaRosa's Pizza was a huge hit, United Dairy Farmers donated the ice cream, Slush Puppie was on hand with slushies, and Dunkin' Donuts supplied our morning treats. Paula Toti did her traditionally great job as our Emcee, as she led us through the stage presentation. Special guest Betsy Inch Fouss, Executive Director of the Delta Gamma Foundation greeted over 80 Delta Gammas in the crowd. Walkers were treated to visits by Victor E. Viking from Northern Kentucky University, Mr. Redlegs from the Cincinnati Reds, the Musketeer from Xavier University, professional photographs by Robert Flischel, accoustic guitar along the walk route by Jim Gillum, and walk warm-ups led by Robyn Bancroft from Downtown Cincinnati Jazzercize. And finally, a HUGE thank you to all the Team Captains, walkers, and volunteers (especially Bobbi Shaw, Christine Ninneman, Kohl's, the Delta Gammas and the Cincinnati Eye Institute)! Your support, dedication, and energy made the day a true success. With you a Cure is in Sight! We also want to highlight the top Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky VisionWalk teams and their captains, all six of which raised more than $3,000 each, and we are still counting. Congratulations on an amazing performance!
Here are the All Stars who INDIVIDUALLY raised over $1,000 each. We want to recognize their EXTRAORDINARY efforts:
