2011 Triad VisionWalk

On Saturday, October 1st more than 250 people came out to Country Park in support of the 2nd Annual Triad VisionWalk. We had a beautiful fall day - the sun was shining, the weather was crisp and the energy and enthusiasm were high!
Thanks to all of our amazingly dedicated Teams, Walkers, Sponsors, and Volunteers, the VisionWalk has raised nearly $60,000 so far with more coming in every day. Keep checking our thermometer! There are plenty more activities coming up this fall to help us get all the way to our $85,000 goal - stay tuned for more information on them! And remember, the battle for the North Carolina VisionWalk Champion title between the Triad and Charlotte VisionWalks is still going strong. The winner of the competition will be announced in December. We had Tom Serrin and Holly Daniels as Walk Co-Chairs, Marilyn Green - Foundation Fighting Blindness National Board of Directors, and Honorary Chairs Senator Richard Burr, Senator Kay R. Hagan, and Forsyth County Commissioner David Plyler. Thank you to all of our VisionWalk leaders! At the VisionWalk we awarded three prizes in the Team Spirit Contest. The Hollybell Team won for Best Team T-Shirt. Team IFB, representing the Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind won for Largest Team. And, newcomer Inner Strength won Best Overall Team Spirit. There was some stiff competition this year - thank you to everyone who participated. Walk Day photos will be available soon.
