San Diego Dining in the Dark

The San Diego Dining in the Dark was held on Wednesday, June 1 at the San Diego Hilton Resort & Spa. Honoree David Eveleth, Ph.D., Vice President & Disease Area Head of Ophthalmology for Pfizer, was recognized for his dedication to eye health and research. One highlight of the evening was Barbara Oleynick’s heartwarming speech about coming to acceptance with her retinitis pigmentosa, with husband Gary and guide dog of two years “Chihuahua” alongside her at the podium for support. More than 160 attendees came together to raise an impressive $40,000 that night alone through “raise the paddle” and live and silent auctions, elevating the dinner to nearly $200,000.A big thank you goes out to Dinner Co-Chairs Patricia Murnighan and Michael R. Niesman, Ph.D., as well as Foundation National Trustees Jill and Evan Stone and the entire dinner committee for their amazing dedication in the fight against blindness.
