Tamba Bay, FL - Beach Tennis comes to Siesta Key

On the white sands of Siesta Key Beach, June 5, 2010, more than 100 pro and amateur athletes participated in the U.S. International Federation of Beach Tennis Tournament 2010 Open Event where a portion of the proceeds benefitted the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Winston Owen, the organizer of the event is the father of 12-year-old Nico, who was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa. Winston has taken his energy, love of tennis and desire to save his son’s vision and combined the trio to bring awareness not only of this new sport of Beach Tennis, but to raise the critical dollars needed for the Foundation Fighting Blindness to further fund research that could save his young son’s vision.
