Jacksonville, FL – Inaugural Jacksonville VisionWalk

Chaired by Suzi Ford and Bobbi Moore Sunday, April 26th, 2009 marked the first ever Jacksonville VisionWalk! Over 350 participants came out to enjoy the fabulous weather at the Bolles School. Children enjoyed the face painter, clown, bounce house and slide, while others helped themselves to a spread of food donated by Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Dave & Busters. Russell Davis, the PR/Media Chair, did a wonderful job of emceeing the event and getting everyone excited for the walk. Co-Chairs Suzi Ford and Bobbi Moore accepted their plaques of appreciation from the Foundation and extended their gratitude for the turnout and outpouring of support. They were thankful for the number of people who attended the event and the others who donated time and money to help us reach our goal. It was truly amazing to see the dedication and support for the VisionWalk. Everyone attending did their part. Over $35,000 was raised in Jacksonville to help the Foundation Fighting Blindness fund research for retinal degenerative diseases. Thank you to our Associate Sponsors, Optos Inc. and Pearle Vision. We’re so grateful to each team who put in so much hard work and dedication to help us reach our goal. Our top teams were Team Brendon, who raised an astounding $6,572, followed closely by O’Malley’s Team, coming in with $4,610, and Team H.O.P.E. who raised $3,783! Special thanks to our corporate teams of volunteers from CarMax, Kohl’s and Walmart who all came out showing their support for VisionWalk and wearing their company team T-shirts! We want to thank our Volunteers, Sponsors, Team Captains, Walkers, and our fabulous Walk committee: Walk Co-Chairs Suzi Ford and Bobbi Moore, PR and Media Chair Russell Davis, Youth Chair Ansh Grover and our Family Team Co-Chairs Lisa Benz and Megan Mauney. Get ready for the 2nd Annual Jacksonville VisionWalk tentatively set to take place in April 2010.
