San Diego, CA - San Diego VisionWalk
|
More than 150 participants gathered for the inaugural San Diego VisionWalk on September 14th. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday after the morning clouds disappeared. Walkers were able to stroll along the Pacific Ocean, as the VisionWalk route weaved throughout Mission Bay Park.
The morning was filled with lots of fun activities for the youngest and oldest walk participants. By the end of the day, we had raised close to $35,000 for research. We want to give a special thanks to our Walk Chair, Erin Goodwin-Allen, and our Honorary Walk Chair, Dr. Radha Ayyagari of the UCSD Shiley Eye Center. Your leadership and dedication to the VisionWalk was the true driving force behind our success. Also, thanks to the event’s emcee, Carol LeBeau, Anchor at 10News. We also thank our sponsors: ShopLowVision.com; The Harold R. Stern Foundation, Managed by Private Asset Management, Inc.; and Wal-Mart. And finally, a HUGE thank you to all the Team Captains, walkers, and volunteers! Your support, dedication, and energy made the day a true success. With you a Cure is in Sight! We also want to highlight the top San Diego VisionWalk teams:
