Lori S. Sullivan, Ph.D.

The name of this individual is Dr. Lori S. Sullivan. Dr. Sullivan has a Ph.D. degree and is a Faculty Associate in the Human Genetics Center in the School of Public Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. As a Faculty Associate in a non-profit, State-supported, university-based medical center she has research, teaching, service and administrative duties relating to medical genetics, molecular biology and public health. Dr. Sullivan received her undergraduate BA degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, M.D., in 1984 in biology. She received her Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, CA, in 1990 in molecular evolution. She did postdoctoral training at the Univ. of Texas HSC at Houston from 1990 to 1991. Additional activities include 1.) Laboratory Technician, Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, Division of Biophysics, 1984; 2.) Research Associate and Teaching Assistant, Dept. of Biology, University of CA, Los Angeles, 1984-1990; 3.) Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences, the Univ. of Texas HSC at Houston, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences; 4.) Faculty Associate, Division of Epidemiology, the Univ. of Texas HSC, Houston, TX, 2003-present. Dr. Sullivan’s research interests include identification of genes and mutations causing autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive and X-linked retinitis pigmentosa, and related and cognate diseases, using linkage mapping, DNA sequencing, MLPA, bioinformatics, and other laboratory and computational approaches; and follow up studies on the pathologic mechanisms involved in specific disease-related genes and diseasecausing mutations.
