Neal S. Peachey, Ph.D.

Neal S. Peachey, Ph.D., is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. In addition to his work at the Cole Eye Institute, Dr. Peachey also serves as the Associate Chief of Staff for Research at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. Before moving to the Cole Eye Institute, he was Assistant and Associate Professor of Neurology at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL, from 1990-1996 and 1996-2000, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1985 Experimental Psychology from Northeastern University, where he worked in the laboratory of John Armington, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Chicago Eye & Ear Infirmary, where he worked in the laboratories of Ken Alexander, Gerald Fishman and Harris Ripps. Dr. Peachey has published over 110 papers regarding electrophysiological and psychophysical studies of the normal visual system and how these measures are altered in patients with retinal disease or in animal models of human retinal disorders. Dr. Peachey has received a research award from Hope for Vision. He is currently a member of the editorial boards of Documenta Ophthalmologica and Experimental Eye Research, and serves on the National Advisory Group to the Atlanta VA Rehabilitation R&D Center of Excellence for Aging Veterans with Vision Loss. |
