Chapter Meetings and Events:
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday, April 13 for our Louisville Chapter Speaker Series Presentation & VisionWalk Organizing Reception. Dr. Howard Lazarus from John-Kenyon American Eye Institute presented on the Argus II retinal prosthesis, also known as a “bionic retina.” This exciting new technology can restore some vision to people who are blind from advanced retinitis pigmentosa (RP), and it recently received U.S. market approval from the FDA. Dr. Lazarus also gave updates on other research in the retinal field.
Brian Goemmer from See the World, Louisville's source for low vision products, showcased visual aids ranging from magnifiers to talking devices to tablets & e-readers. He also gave attendees a chance to try out the equipment and get their questions answered.
