- Hello Oemi! College can be pretty nerve wracking. But it's completely "do-able" for visually-impaired and blind students. A few things that will help you are:
*A desktop or handheld CCTV--
*Handheld magnifiers
*Screen enlargement software like Zoomtext or JAWS...the magnifier program on Windows 7 is also very good.
*Set up an appt with your college counselor and/or a disabed-student specialist to address accessibility issues on campus like preferential seating, note taking, etc.
*If you have the option to take online classes--definitely choose ONLINE. With online classes, you don't have to worry about transportation, blackboard, smartboard issues.
Hope this helps...God Bless and Good Luck!

- Hi there! I've been through university once without this disease and now I am going back for teachers college with CRD. Besides magnifiers I find that making my computer into inverted colours helps me alot. There's a trick for both Windows and Mac computers.I goggled the instructions/shortcuts. And I know it sounds funny and I feel stupid doing it but wearing sunglasses inside helps with the glare and tones the brightness down.
Don't worry, college is tough enough as it is but we're already stronger for dealing with CRD every day. Good lcuk! You'll do great =)
