- Parents with Rp with more than one child
- Posted: 2010-05-09 17:29:10 By Bridget P
- Hi.I have RP. I am looking for other parents who do not drive anymore, who juggle the busy life of having more than one child. Please write me. My husband and I are considering having a 2nd child and I just have so many worries. Our son is almost 4 and will begin a 3 hour school day in August. Already we are trying to find people to pick him up and bring him home bc my husband works 30 minutes away. I know as he gets older there will be even more things that he will be doing like sports, etc.
Are there anymore websites that people with RP chat on?
Thanks
Bridget

- My names Shanin and I have a 4 year old son and an 8 month old daughter. I was actually about to give up driving but my husband and I separated so now I'm the only one to work and care for the kids. Having the second child can be hard (especially since you aren't driving) but it has been absolutely worth it for me. And since your son will be about the same age as mine, I know from experience that the older child can be extremely helpful. My son is frequently my "eyes" when I need help finding something or picking something up the baby threw in the dark. If you'd like to chat, I'd love to talk with another mom with RP... feel free to send me an email at azsnow22@yahoo.com

- Hi Bridget,
This is my first time here, but if you have facebook there is a really great support group. All kinds of people all over the world who love to talk and share experiences. I've had RP since I was small and I have a 21mth old daughter and I too worry about all that. How my daughter is going to get to her activities, school or whatnot. But my husband has informed where he works that his wife is blind and they try to work with his schedule or I try to get rides from family or friends. I put my daughter in tumbling class and explain to them that I don't drive and I have to work around my husband schedule. They have flexible hrs that the tumbling class works for me. We're also thinking about having a second child later on. Lots of question come about now that we have our little one. If you like to email me: jvrondan@yahoo.com

- Hey, I have three sons (6, 4, and 1). I had to quit driving about 5 years ago. I am blessed in that I have my husband and my father who are willing to help drive the boys to their activities. It is hard though. Oftentimes, I feel that it would be so much easier if I could just put the boys in the car and go without needing to coordinate schedules. Basically, I just try to be really open with people about our situation--letting them know that we might have to be late or miss some things if schedules conflict. The boys know that mommy can't drive, and they don't seem phased by it at this age. I just hope that we are still able to be so flexible as they get older. I would love to chat with you anytime--I am always looking for someone who understands my situation.

- sounds like we are in the same situation. i have RP and my son is 4 and starts prek in aug. we too would love to have a 2nd child but our biggest concern is the progression of my RP bc i was diagnosed with RP while i was pregnant with my son and i think it progressed during the pregnancy. My husband also has a 5 yr old little girl from a previous relationship. So i understand how you feel with juggling everything. My husband drives me to my dr. appointments, grocery store, picks up his daughter for weekend visits, and has to work 50-60 hrs a week. So i completely understand where you're coming from.
