- Looking for a phone that's able to enlarge texts (verizon wireless)
- Posted: 2010-01-28 23:08:37 By Patrick C
- It's about time to renew my contract with Verizon Wireless. I just recently started texting. The phone I currently have has no options to enlarged my text messages. I use a magnifying glass, but I still struggle quite a bit. Especially if I'm outside during the daytime. I went to my local Verizon store, but they were of no help at all.
I know there are phones that will read your messages to you, but I'm not interested in that feature as I don't like people being able to listen in on my conversations, and also, sometimes I'm in quiet, public places. I also know that there's phones where you can change the background and text color (black background with white text). My brother (who also has RP) has one of these phones, but his is pre-paid. And I think that phone is only available for pre-paid.
I'm mostly looking for a basic phone, but that also takes pics and videos. I don't care about internet or anything like that. Just a good phone that makes calls, sends/receives texts, and takes pics and vids. A qwerty keyboard would be a plus, but not a must.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I figured this would be the best place to ask since I'm sure some of the members would have something like what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance.

- ahhhhhhh yes i too use a magnifier when i am composing texts...i have sprint and have the samsung highnote which has a car mode so it reads out incoming text and when i am composing them it wont repeat the letters i tap but will tell you the number so in other words its just a digit dial readout but it helps guide me...but i have been wanting to switch to verizon because they have a lot of phones that read out incoming texts which is what i would prefer because i can text most of the time without looking because i use the t9 predictive so it remembers my words but i dont like to bust out my magnifier in public when trying to read a text so i just turn the volume waaaay down and hold up to my ear....as for verizon no their people in the stores are of noooo help and i have done so much research on youtube, google ,phonearena, phonedog, you name it! the only setting their phones have for their text is normal and large and the large is not much bigger than the normal option.. sprint has the rumor 2 that has a normal keypad and a qwerty and this phone will read out all the menus and each letter you tap out and when you are done spelling the word and pressing the space it will tell you what word you just typed and it will announce the name of ther person calling or sending a text but WONT read the text out loud grrr was almost the perfect phone for me... verizon has a couple smartphones that come preloaded with the talks software but you have to pay an extra 30 bucks for a data plan. i think verizons jitterbug phone may have larger font and also maybe the knack..i know i probably did not answer your question sorry but i have been reasearching for over a year for a phone. and i know you say you have verizon but if you want a phone with a black background with fairly large print you should look up the samsung m550 from sprint ..my friends tell me the font is huge:) but i can barely make it out i like mine read to me now:)

- patrick.
i was at the verizon store the other day and may have found the perfect phone for you and possibly me!! its the samsung rogue...the font is pretty big...you may have to mess with the setting to make it that big but wow its the biggest font i have ever seen on a phone and it have a back background ..and the front is a touch screen with a virtual number pad which is white on black and then you can slide it open for a qwerty keyboard...check it out!!!!!
