  • How to get started looking for help?

  • My dad has had RP for years now, it is getting to the point where he cannot see much at all. I would like to get him in to see someone who can really help him. So far, eye doctors have seemed inexperience with RP. Anyone have suggestions for who to go to in Michigan?

  • Sara,

There probably isn't much doctors can do for him as the RP progresses. If youa re interested in an RP specialist, then check into Dr. John Heckenlively at Kellogg Eye Center. He's probably the top RP Specialist in the State there although I've hard mixed rewviews regarding him from other RPers.

If you are looking for someone that will assist him, then you need to take him to a Low Vision Speicalist. Contact the Michigan Commission for the Blind as a place to start. They should have Low Vision Services and would be of better assistance for his needs.
