  • Hi......
My 12 years old son was diagnosed with Stargard's since he was 5-1/2 years old. Genetic test were negative for Stargardt's. Now ERG and Fundus Photographs were done at Singapore Eye Hospital. Their diagnosis are Cone Rod Dystrophy. They did'nt recommend for Genetic testing again for Cone Rod Dystrophy. Can any help me what to do next to confirm if he has Cone rod dystrophy? God Bless you all Muhammad from Pakistan

  • Tjere really is nothing more to confirm this. The ERG and photos will confirm it. So now you have a definate diagnosis of Cone Rod Dystrophy. As far as genetics go, there are well over 100 genes responsible for RP including CRD. However, that is an estimate and not all genes are isolated. so they may not be able to confirm it genetically. I'm not sure why you would want to do this since you already know it's CRD anyway. The ERG is what puts it in a proper diagnosis.
