  • I was diagnosed with RP simplex but with autoimmune retinopathy. Apparently my eyes are being destroyed by my own immune system as it sees the retinal cells as an invasion. Why this is happening is a mystery except there could have been an eye injury, infection or something that caused the retinal cells to escape and my immune system is attacking which causes my condition to be excelerated. I am currently undergoing immune suppression treatments to stop the attacks and hopefully will either stabalize me or potentially bring back 25% of my vision back if I am considered to be a success. Anyway, this is the best I can explain it except to say my condition has advanced quickly, very few spicules pigmentation but my retina has attenuated veins. My ERG is extinquished which is strange considering I am 52 and only noticed vision problems about 4 or 5 years ago. Now my Goldmann shows a great loss of peripheral vision but perfect central vision. Anyway, is rare so just wondering if anyone had experienced the treatment I just started and if they had success. Success being 25% or more of vision restoration but less then 24% or stabilization not consider success but truly I would think it would be success in my mind. Hope this helps you understand but from what I have been told it is very rare.
