- CNTF (NT-501) Alternate

- Hello all...
As stated before, has anyone looked at Dr. Dong Feng Chen's work on "Awakening Retinal Stem Cells"
published in ScienceDaily March 18, 2008? She is from the Schepens Eye Research Institute (Harvard).
This method is better than NT-501.

- I know that at viisons thet talked about some other factors that they may be in the future for clinical trials besides NT-501.( ciliary neurotrophic factor ). I can't remember wich ones . I hope they are better than CNTF. Unfortunatelly, I do not think that CNTF will become a standard future way to treat RP

- Hi Carolina S...
You are correct.
CNTF is not the answer.
Its method is too complex and risky.
Surgically implanting a device that must be again removed when expired in a short period is way to complex. Too many hospital visits.
The RPE65 cells should be instilled in an eye drop format, or pill.
I prefer the "awakening of retinal stem cells" so far.
