- Coping with RP
- Posted: 2008-03-31 16:57:22 By Robert W
- Hi, I have had such a hard time trying to cope with my diagnoses. Everything I dreamed about is like gone. What are some ways that can help me better cope. This has all made me really depressed. I currently in the military. Thats not going so good. I am getting no support or guidance or anything from that. If anything its making me feel worse. Is there any advise that anybody can give me to help me get my back on track. Would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

- Robert,
There is a John M. that used to post here. He created a MySpace page and is also a military man. He set up the MySpace page to help Blind/VI Vets. He went to the VA Blind Center someplace (in Chicago?) that helped him. So you might want to look into this if you have not done so.
Another option is to contact the state agency that services the blind/VI in your State. They do have Social Workers that can provide resources to coping and can help you obtain other skills you may need to remain independant. There is nothing you can't do in life. We just do it a little differently.
I grew up with RP so it's a part of my life. What is "normal" for me may seem limited to others and vice versa.

- Hi,
I read your posting and just wanted to say you will get thru this stage of emotions. If your heart is in it I strongly suggest that you go to college and get a degree. Education will open up many doors for you.
I am 45 and have RP. My vision now is 20/200. I work as an engineer and have 3 kids.
Best Regards.....

- hi there...like you i've experience the same thing, RP is very hard to deal with, most of the people will laughn at you if you hit something in front of you or if you did nt see things that they can..but you know life must go on..
you have to find your worth..God has other plans with you..dont loose faith..I am only 21 years old, i just graduated from college, i'm planning to find job to help my family but all my dreams faded when i found out that I had RP..but with hte help of my family, i cope up..just enjoy life while you can still see things..be happy that at least you experienced those things..Think positive..Good thing you registered in this site, you'll get updates and only RPers could understand you and who knows the doctors will find cure to our desease..God bless

- Hi,
I quite agree with u, it is exactly as you put it. My immediate sister wa diagonised 8 years ago, it was like hell. She was everyday, everywhere aggressive, her forehead with bruises from hitting this hitting that, we search internet for over three years, we learnt of Arcupuncture in Indian, immediately she heard of it, without any hesitation, she forced us on the way, after spebnding three weeks, we all came back dejected without any result, after sspending huge amount! You can imagine how terrible she felt. Today amazing things are happening, her hope, her faith in God who heals started growing, she is miraculously bukling up to move ahead despite her condition. She is fully back to work, with employed assistance, and she is ever radiant, full of faith, that God can heal, and will surely heal her. She is bubling with Philipians 4:13 in the Bible
Rejoice, once agan rejoice.
