- I don't know of any websites. But my wife and I had our house builted to accommodate me. We told the Architect/designer that I was visually impaired and wanted the house to be safe for me.
I asked for light fixtures in stairways. Rounded the sharp corners on the kitchens cabinets specially the the upper cabinets. Make sure no doors opening into another doorway.
Take a tour thru some model houses and ask yourself what you like and don't like

- Thanks for some good tips. My wife's biggest problem aside from poor lighting is color contrast . She has trouble identifying transitions such as thresholds and stair that are the same color tone.

- I know how she feels, I also struggle with this. I find that making a dark edge on a light stair works well, or the opposite (schools often do this) If you have wood stairs a simple dark strip of wood at the edge (think you can get them at any hardware or lumber store) carpets the same thing, buy the metal or plastic strips in the contrasting color to the carpet, metal or whatever works. I have also put up mini blinds all over the house so that they can be drawn when I need to do a task, so that the glare doesnt interfere with what I am trying to do. I know my husband gets frustrated with me from time to time, but he is getting better about it as time goes by, because he has noticed that tasks are easier for me when we have things set up right....good luck, Kim
