  • Yep I use the MyReader at work. I hate it. Couple of issues. The screen is too small and it is difficult to move a page around in live mode. The focus is not very fast. Additionally the light is simply too bright. It is so bright that anything that has a reflective quality is washed out by the bright lights. It also does not focus well enough to read very small print. I have a merlin plus at home that is far better. The cature feature on the my reader is mor of a hassle than a benefit. Slow to use and you have to capture single pages at a time.

Sorry for the negitive feedback but the MyReader and its portability is not worth the cost for the low quality function.

  • Thank you very much for the reply. I am comparing several machins. The merlin the optelec the portable clarity deskmate and the myreader. I see what you mean about the live feature the area of text klyou pick up is very smalland not as clear as a regular cctv. It seems like with a lot of reading it would do well in the row mode compared with acctv and having to constantly move the table and refocus on the text. I was shown the my reader2 with a 19" monitor. I do understand there has been a few improvements with the 2. Thanks again for information. Rick

  • If the myreader2 has a 19" monitor it would help. All depends on how you use it. For the work I do the myreader has not been too practical. Looking through 100 pages of a file gets anoying with the my reader. If possible I avoid it. I also use openbook scanning and reading software. If the text is good I can scan 25 pages through the doc feeder in about 10 minutes.

I carry a Sense View. I went with it because of its slimness and its easy to carry.

  • After reading 3 or 4 pages of a book my eyes give out. The myreader seems like it would be less fatiguing on the eyes than a standard cctv. The row view seems like it would work well. Does it get old moving the table on the cctv?

  • I rarely use the table. Easier to move the paper. My own little test of truth for a cctv is if I can read my credit card under it. If I can do that it will view just about anything. Check all of the out and pick the one that meets your needs the best.
