  • Yep, Im the CNTF rulebreaker...

  • Hey everyone...It has been awhile since I have posted anything-the last 6 months have just flown by. I have just returned from a month long trip to Europe (where even with bumpy cobblestone streets and tons of stairs I didnt trip once! YAY) and am 5 months pregnant. Neurotech has been womderful about letting me keep my implant. As many of you know, one of the rules for the study is to not become pregnant or breast feed while in the study. THey said it was fine and that I might just need to undergo additional testing but overall weren't too concerned. I was so relieved!!!

The implant itself is fine. Haven't noticed any huge change but like I said, made it traveling around and did pretty well considering. :)

Hope all is well with you and I'll try to pop in more often. Cheers!

  • You're seeing well that you are out and partying now! :)

Wow, I think it's great that you are contineued in the study. I think eventually they would need to evaluate this with pregnancy and/or breastfeeding anyway so you are the lab rat in that arena!

    Congrats on the pregnancy.

  • Thankx. I guess it isn't so much that what is releases is harmful to the fetus, they just didn't want that to be in the parameters of this study.

Yeah, my parying days are over for awhile now! :)

  • Heather,
Cograts on all your good news! I'm kind of a newcomer to this message board and haven't read any of your previous posts. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you and what was your visual acuity and degrees of your visual field before your implant and after? Sounds like you are very happy with the results. That's great.Do you live in the US? Lookig forward to your reply.

  • Im 31 and was diagnosed right before I turned 30. To be honest I have no idea what my levels/degrees are. I know, seems like basic info, huh? But the same appt I was diagnosed I was offfered a spot in the Nureotech study and immediatly started in on that. A couple months later I was implated, so it happened really fast.

The implant for early stage is for 2 yesrs however it has been changed and it will be up to the recipient to have it removed or not. The late stage is for one year and the same thing. If you wish to keep it then you can !
