- CME (Cystoid Macular Edema)
- Posted: 2008-02-07 17:28:41 By Christy P
- Does anyone have both RP and CME? I have CME now in both eyes. It's left me with a central blind spot and 20/400 vision in my right eye and now it's in my left so I'm very nervous. I tried the injection in my right eye but unfortuantely it was after the damage had been done and the CME came back. Has anyone found any treatment that works and maintains the acuity?

- Have you tried other medications or was the injection the first route? Usually Diamox is used along with a steriod eye drop. This can "control" the CME so it doesn't get worse but the damage has been done.
Remember, having RP increases your risk of having other eye conditions such as CME or glaucoma, to name a few. So CME is quite common.

- Hey Christy,
I too have CME i first tried some drops they did not work so i got the injections(in the white part) and it helped but for only like a week or so, then when i went back he injected me right into my eyeball like the pupil part. it worked for a while now i am noticing the blurryness coming back. i go in tomorrow so we will see what they say. now when you say the damage is already done i dont understand...what damage? cuz the shots cleared up my vision but it just didnt last.. is that what you mean by damage that the CME keeps coming back?

- Thanks for the responses. The CME has caused poor accuity (20/400) in my right eye as well as a central blind spot. I had the injection and it took care of the swelling (for about 1 year) but the accuity and blind spot didn't improve. So far I have blurry vision in my left eye that we're hoping will go away after using drops (I don't have them in front of me so I can't remember the name of them) but if not we'll try the injection in that eye.
I'm hoping when the swelling goes down the blurriness and accuity changes will go away but I'm nervous since it didn't help my right eye.
