  • Hello Tyrone,
I went to the site and saw 3 things that sent up flags, 1) "not FDA approved", 2) cost of $25,000 and 3) their disclaimer page. But I thought I'd call Viacord anyway since I stored my daughter's cord blood with them and the Biotherapy site mentioned umbilical cord blood stem cells being used in their procedure. Viacord was not familiar with the Stem Cell Biotherapy people, but said that the area of retinal and eye diseases is definitely something they are looking into. They referred me to the the government's clinical trial website, www.clinicaltrials.gov to search under stem cells. I couldn't find anything with umbilical cord stem cells or other stems cells relating to RP or AMD, except Dr. Radke's trial in KY with fetal tissue. I would need more than a webpage and some brochures to convince me to undergo any treatment not FDA approved. But if you find out anything interesting, let us know!

  • The FFB director of Research and Development told us at the seminar in Tampa that you should ask these three questions before considering involvement in things of this nature:

    1. is it FDA approved
    2. have they PUBLISHED their findings
    3. have there been clinical trials
